Le prix Chesneau 2023 est attribué à Iva Laginja pour son travail de thèse intitulé "Contrast-based tolerancing of space telescopes for exoEarth imaging", thèse soutenue en décembre 2021 à l'observatoire de Paris (ONERA, LAM, STScI).
Cette thèse a impressionné le jury du prix Chesneau pour sa très bonne introduction, fournissant un large panorama des méthodes et horizons de la détection des exoplanètes, une étude théorique solide sur le tolérancement des miroirs segmentés de grands télescopes spatiaux, et une application et adaptation de cette étude sur une expérience de laboratoire ainsi que le JWST, validant par l'expérience sur des données réelles les principes développés. Cette thèse d'Iva Laginja a abouti à trois articles à comité de lecture en premier auteur : un nombre suffisamment significatif pour être souligné.
En plus des ces résultats scientifiques notables, le jury a apprécié l'implication forte d'Iva Laginja dans la vie scientifique de son domaine : elle est très active dans l'animation de la communauté d'imagerie à haut contraste, a montré de vrais talents de leader, et s'applique à transmettre son savoir en étant mentor de jeunes chercheurs.

The 2023 Olivier Chesneau prize is awarded to Iva Laginja on her PhD work "Contrast based tolerancing of space telescopes for exoEarth imaging", successfully defended in December 2021 at Paris observatory (ONERA, LAM, STScI).
This PhD impressed the Chesneau prize jury with its great introduction, giving abroad panorama of exoplanets detection prospects and techniques, a solid theoretical study of segments alignment tolerancing on large space-based telescopes, and an application and adaptation of this theoretical framework to both a laboratory testbench and the JWST, validating on real datasets the developed principles. This PhD work led to 3 first-author refereed publications, a significant number.
In addition to these impressive scientific achievements, the jury noted the strong implication of Iva Laginja in the scientific life of her domain: she is very active in the animation of the high-contrast imaging community, has shown a clear leadership, and is actively mentoring young researchers.
