Interpretation

  • Population of sources (coalescences of black holes and neutron stars), Galactic sources, double supermassive black holes, non-modelled sources, stochastic backgrounds of cosmological and astrophysical origin, cosmology, transient sources, etc.

Gravitational waves : meeting astrophysical challenges

Objectives :

With its instrumental and astrophysical expertise and access to its own site (Plateau de Calern), the OCA is a unique site for the development of gravitational wave science and multimessenger astronomy. We are particularly interested in :

  • Continuing involvement with VIRGO-ET and LISA instruments
  • Extend astrophysical support for the analysis of GW sources
  • Develop observational cosmology in synergy with SKA/LISA/EUCLID​

This research theme receives funding for supervising internships, inviting external scientific experts and organising workshops and schools.
